Before removal
- Photograph the complete installation, nameplate, terminal block, cable route and mounting points.
- Record dimensions, mass and any readable model or approval data.
- Describe the failure circumstances and any evidence from the connected circuit.
Electrical evidence
- Measure winding resistance and continuity where safe and meaningful.
- Identify input, output, auxiliary windings and thermal protection.
- Explain the equipment load and operating sequence rather than relying only on label current.
Approval plan
- Confirm the mechanical fit and terminal arrangement.
- Review whether the equipment standard requires updated insulation, protection or marking.
- Approve a drawing and test plan before repeat production.
